Xavier Garcia, DVM

Dr. Garcia graduated from The Universidad Nacional Pedro Enriquez Urena , Dominican Republic in 1986. After his graduation he did a post graduate course at the Animal Medical Center in New York City for small animal medicine and surgery as well as at the New Bolton Center in Pennsylvania for large animal medicine and surgery. Later, he moved to Juno Beach and practiced in an AAHA accredited hospital for a period of 5 years. During the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, he volunteered his services and treated thousands of animals over the course of a year, not resting until the last animal was placed in a home. In 1991 he moved to West Palm Beach and started his own practice, El Cid Animal Clinic, a now AAHA accredited veterinary practice. El Cid Animal Clinic, which started out as a mobile practice, has now been a permanent fixture in the community for over 15 years. Dr. Garcia has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery and veterinary dentistry. In his spare time Dr. Garcia volunteers his services to Animal Care and Control teaching other veterinarians difficult orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries which have given many shelter animals a chance at life that otherwise would have been euthanized.

Dr. Garcia has four faithful companions living at home with him: Carina, Peter, Daisy and Holly.

Joaquin Garcia, MD.

VICE PRESIDENT
Born in Havana, Cuba. Dr. Garcia lived in Spain and Puerto Rico for many years, and attended Medical School at Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic becoming a Medical Doctor in 1988. Upon his arrival to Palm Beach County, he fell in love with the area, making it his permanent residence. He has worked for many years to reach out to the Hispanic community, encouraging community participation, as well as spreading the word about the importance of keeping up with their pets immunizations, preventative care, as well as neutering and spaying. He is also involved with many community organizations, such as the Chairman for the Board for the Hispanic Education Coalition of Palm Beach County; The Palm Beach advisory Committee for the Lewis Center Homeless Resource Center; and volunteers for the Vickers House “Elders on the Edge Pet Program”, which helps the pets of indigent elderly in crisis.

Dr. Garcia has four faithful companions living at home with him: Carina, Peter, Daisy and Holly.

Cristele Skjellerup

CristelePRACTICE MANAGER AND PUBLIC RELATIONS SUPERVISOR

Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, Cristele has been a resident of South Florida since 1992. She has a bachelor in Graphic Design from Digital Media Arts College and an Associates in Fashion Design from The Art Institute. Cristele’s passion for animals started at an early age, when she would volunteer to walk the neighbors’ dogs. Since then she has worked in both privately owned boarding facilities and general practices where she has furthered her medical skills and knowledge. Currently, she is in the process of becoming a Certified veterinary practice manager. Cristele has 2 faithful companions living at home with her: Gizmo and Anubis.

She is proud to be a part of the El Cid Family since August 2012.

Snowball

SnowballPATIENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, Snowball has been seen roaming the clinic, where ever he pleases, sometimes hanging off the receptionist’s desk or trying to invade a client’s purse. Depending on the day you meet Snowball, he can either be nice or not so nice. Snowball spends the majority of his hard working days demanding that you turn on the faucet for him for fresh water, sleeping, eating, or introducing himself to all the cats that enter the clinic. He is proud to be a member of the El Cid Animal Clinic family since 2004.


Devon

devonPATIENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, Devon is the newest member to El Cid. Devon has been seen to roam the clinic and play tricks on all the clients and staff. This ranges from running up behind them slapping their leg, attacking the center piece in the lobby, to climbing the walls.

Depending on the day you meet Devon, he can either be greeting all the dogs or hissing at all the cats that enter the clinic. Devon spends the majority of his hard working days demanding that you turn on the faucet for him for fresh water, being mischivious or being in the way. He is proud to be a member of the El Cid Animal Clinic family since 2013.


Patrick Colomban

Originally from Boca Raton, South Florida, Patrick’s heritage is Argentinean and Italian. His interest in animals brought him to his first step in the veterinary field in 2005. Since then, he has worked and managed in general practices where he has furthered his medical skills and knowledge.

Currently he is in the process of becoming a certified veterinary technician through Penn Foster. Patrick has one faithful companion living at home: Sascha. He is proud to be a part of the El Cid Family since March 2015.
