Xavier Garcia, DVM
Medical Director/President
Dr. Garcia graduated from The National University Pedro Enriquez Urena, Dominican Republic in 1986. After his graduation, he did a post-graduate course at the Animal Medical Center in New York City for small animal medicine and surgery, as well as at the New Bolton Center in Pennsylvania for large animal medicine and surgery. Later, he moved to Juno Beach and practiced in an AAHA accredited hospital for a period of 5 years. During the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, he volunteered his services and treated thousands of animals over the course of a year, not resting until the last animal was placed in a home.
In 1991 he moved to West Palm Beach and started his own practice, El Cid Animal Clinic. One of the few AAHA accredited veterinary practice in Palm Beach County, FL. It has grown to be a permanent fixture in the community for over 30 years. Dr. Garcia has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and veterinary dentistry.
He was a board member of Save a Pet Florida and provided medical and surgical care to animals that otherwise will be euthanized and found them their forever homes.
Besides being a veterinarian Dr. Garcia is an opera singer and was a soloist of Palm Beach Opera for over 20 years. He later created Opera Fusion, a local Opera company, to enrich the already talented South Florida Opera Singers. He created the only program in the country that was free to the young opera singers of our community. Many of them have achieved major operatic careers.
Currently he continues to practice at El Cid Animal Clinic. He is a board member of the Hispanic Education Coalition of Palm Beach County. A volunteered based, non-profit organization established to promote educational equity in the School District of Palm Beach County. By advocating for greater equity and access for Hispanic students, educational professionals, and community members, all other historically underserved communities will experience greater success.
He created LA VUELTA Palm Beach - HEC to help fund the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Scholarship Fund.
